Meet the Author

Homer Hickam's official website provides a  biography, a bibliography, his blog,  photographs and links to explore.

What is a "memoir?"

"Rocket Boys" is labelled a memoir, not a biography. What sets these two words apart?

Memoir, as defined online by Merriam-Webster Dictionary   is a written account of someone or something that is usually based on personal knowledge of the subject

A biography, defined by the same source, is the story of a real person's life written by someone other than that person

An essay written in the American Scholar by William Zinsser describes how to write a memoir.
