Maps: Journals and Databases

How to Find Journal Titles I

The fastest way to locate journals about geography and anthropology (National Geographic, for example) is to use the "Journal Titles" link on the Books,E-Books, Articles and More page. The screenshot below shows the section of the page where the "Journal Titles" link is placed.

How to Find Journal Titles II

After clicking the "Journal Titles" link, another page will load. The screenshot below shows the home page for searching the journals held in print or within the subscription databases:

Type "geography" into the search bar (or go lower on the page and search "Geography and Cartography" under the disciplines) and click; this will bring up a list of every  journal title that matches or closely matches the search--and the location of every last one of them, whether available inside a database (like JSTOR) or here at the library.

Journal titles can be limited by clicking the small boxes to the left of the results list. The screenshot above does not include all limiters available. Limiters can include resource type, particular publishers, and languages.

Geography Databases

The Electronic Resource Guide's Geography and Anthropology subject heading provides a list of verified databases and other electronic resources for exploration and research. It also might be useful to check the Environmental Science listing as well, using the  e-resources' Subject Headings page.

Another Research Guide

For even more resources related to maps (especially those showing physical data or terrain types), check out the extensive list in the Environmental Science research guide's web resources.
