Corona Virus (COVID-19): Pick Up Service

Updates for Library use during the Corona Pandemic

Pick Up Service

Pick Up Service: The library has instituted a process to allow faculty, staff, students, and community borrowers to check out books, DVDs, CDs, and audio-books during the COVID-19 pandemic. Patrons will request materials through the online catalog and pick up materials at the Public Services Desk.

Library staff will retrieve items, then the items will be placed on the hold shelf and labeled with the patron’s name.

This service is subject to change as procedures and policies evolve in response to external developments.

How Do I Place a Hold?

To place a hold request:

For best results, please use Firefox or Chrome.

Shepherd users must logon to the online catalog using their Shepherd logon credentials.

Community Borrowers must sign in to ‘My Account’ and enter their password. Please see below for instructions on "How To Create a Password"

  1. Locate the desired item in Shepherd’s Worldcat Discovery online catalog.
  1. Click the ‘Place Hold’ button on the item’s catalog record and submit the form.
  1. When an item is ready for pick up, a library employee will contact the patron to let the patron know it is on the hold shelf waiting for pick up. We strive to fill requests no later than the next business day.
