There are 3 printers on the main floor, one of which is a Color printer. They are located in the Reference and Computer Section. There is another Black and White printer on the third floor, along the far left wall when coming up from the stairs.

• Can I print from my laptop once connected?
Unfortunately, no. IT Services has been working to implement a solution to allow wireless users to print to the Shepherd network printers.

The two Xerox machines in the library allow you to scan and make copies. They are located to the right of the entrance in the Copying section of the main floor. If you need help using the Xerox machines, there are directions of the podium to the right of the machine (as well as included in the links above).

You can print out the copies, email the copies, or save the copies to a USB drive.

There are five Flatbed scanners (8x10 and 11x17) in the Library:

  •   One is in the 24 Hour Room, connected to a Mac.
  •   The other four are located in the Reference Lab on the main floor.

Unlike the Xerox machines, the scanners allow for your to scan copies to a computer and edit them as you please.

Microfilm and Microfiche

Directions for using the Microfilm/Microfiche scanner are located to the right of the computer. Make sure to follow the directions carefully when setting up the microfilm for scanning. If you need help using the ScanPro software, please ask for assistance at the Public Services desk.

General Help

  • All computers on the main floor and the third floor are capable of printing. Print jobs on the main floor are sent to the printing station outside of Room 256. Print jobs from the third floor are sent to the printing station on the third floor, located near the EduTech classroom.
  • The Scarborough Library's mini-computers and Chromebooks cannot print to the library printers. Personal laptops cannot print to library printers. Jobs should be saved to a personal USB flash drive.
  • Black and White copies are .15 cents per page.
  • Color copies are .25 per page.
  • Rambler or Visitor cards must be used to retrieve print jobs. Money can be deposited to the Rambler or Visitor card at the Public Services desk. (Visitor Rambler cards are available for purchase [$1.00] at the Public Services desk. The patron must then add money to the card using the Rambler Cash-to-Card machine in order to print.)
  • Print jobs are held in the printer for 20 minutes after the job is sent to the printer or until the patron pays for the job – whichever comes first.

Photocopy Services

Two photocopiers are located on the main floor of the library. One copier produces only black and white copies at a charge of .15/pg. The second copier produces both color and black and white copies at a charge of .25/pg. Patrons have the option of either emailing a document to themselves at no charge or copying a document to a USB drive at no charge. The machines must be operated using a Rambler card. Visitor Rambler cards may be purchased at the Public Services Desk for $1.00, then money for copies can be added to the card on the VTS machine in the library or any VTS machine located on campus.

Fax services are available to all library patrons, but are subject to availability of staff and demands on the machine for Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services. The machine will be operated only by Scarborough Library staff members. Patrons expecting replies via fax must either wait for them or pick up within a reasonable period.

To help defray the costs of the machine, maintenance, supplies, and any telephone charges, the Scarborough Library charges a reasonable per-page fee. The price will be the same for every patron.

  • For all North American transmissions, irrespective of telephone charges: $1.00 per-page, including cover sheets.
  • For any documents received (except ILL): $1.00 per-page.
  • For all overseas transmissions: $3.00 per-page.

Microfilm/Microfiche Services

Microform reader/printers are located on the main floor. Copies from microfilm and microfiche are .15 cents per page.
