How to Search for articles (magazines, newspapers, and journals)

EBSCOhost databases - can be searched individually or collectively:

  • Academic Search Complete - a mix of popular magazines and scholarly journals; multidisciplinary
  • Business Source Elite - Business, Econ, Marketing, etc.
  • EconLIt - note: limit of 4 concurrent users
  • PsycINFO and PsycARTICLES
  • Regional Business News - trade publications, so not scholarly. Good for background reading, though.
  • SPORTDiscus with Full Text

Google Scholar - Do the following to enable "FindIt@Shepherd" links:

  • go to http://scholar.google.com
  • click Settings (top right)
  • click Library links (left navigation menu)
  • type shepherd, then click Search button
  • check the box for Scarborough Library, Shepherd University...
  • click Save
     

LexisNexis Academic - mix of scholarly journals, popular/trade magazines, US and international newspapers

New York Times (1851-2009) : Proquest Historical Newspapers - newspaper

Wall Street Journal - newspaper (print for current months and microfilm 1973-2008)

Journal Titles list - use this when you want to check the full-text availability of a specific
magazine or journal. Example: Does Scarborough Library have Journal of Labor Economics?
